i2r reduces tray weight even further

New manufacturer, i2r Packaging Solutions has further reduced the weight of its aluminium smooth wall foil trays for the food industry, with as much as 25% less material being used on part of its comprehensive range.

i2r, standing for innovation to reality has designed trays to contain as much as 25% less material when compared with competitor trays currently being used.

Designed in response to the needs of the food industry, Jon West, commercial development director of i2r Packaging Solutions said;

“In today’s environmentally conscious society it is important for the food packaging industry to respond to the demands of producers, retailers and consumers. This doesn’t just mean that we need to look at using less packaging but we also need to make sure that the quality of the product and the strength of the packaging does not alter as a result.

“This can really only be achieved through a combination of design and material development. The safe delivery of food products to the retailers and then the consumer is linked to the quality of packaging.

“Just reducing the gauge of the material used will have a detrimental effect on both the quality and the safety of the product and will of course prove a false economy both financially and environmentally.

“Our new trays boast a significant packaging weight reduction and can be manufactured in thinner gauge aluminium as a result of the design strengthening features we’ve added.”

I2r Packaging Solutions provides whole bird and crown ranges as well as traditional aluminium smooth wall shapes. Every tray comes with a clear recycling logo for greater consumer awareness.
